Sanju Samson once again failed with the bat against Bangladesh as he was dismissed for just 10 in the second T20I in Delhi. Earlier this week, the wicketkeeper-batter scored a swift 29, but could not capitalize on his early momentum to guide Team India through.

Struggling with the bat off late, Samson is surely making waves by showing off his linguistic skills behind the stumps. In the second T20I played out at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on October 9, the 29-year-old cricketer lent words of encouragement to Indian spinner Riyan Parag by speaking Bangla.

Sanju Samson speaks Bangla, impresses Sunil Gavaskar

During the 11th over of the Bangladesh innings, Indian wicketkeeper Sanju Samson showed off his Bengali speaking skills by saying “Khub Bhalo, Khub Bhalo” (very good) at a time when Riyan Parag was bowling to Mahmudullah.

Sanju Samson’s linguistic skills seemed to have surprised commentator Sunil Gavaskar. The former Indian cricketer, on-air at the time, claimed that he heard Murali Karthik saying that Samson was fluent in Tamil. Gavaskar jokingly added that he had no idea the dashing wicketkeeper-batter could speak Bangla as well.

Sanju Samson’s words of ‘Bangla’ encouragement seem to have worked wonders for Riyan Parag, considering the Indian spinner got rid of Mehidy Hasan Miraz the very next delivery.

Earlier in the match, Team India amassed 221-9 from 20 overs courtesy of splendid half-centuries from Nitish Kumar Reddy (74 off 34) and Rinku Singh (53 off 29). Hardik Pandya and Riyan Parag also chipped in with handy runs during the slog overs.

The Indian bowlers restricted Bangladesh to just 135-9 in the run-chase to claim a huge 86-run win and a 2-0 lead in the series. The two teams will now collide in the third and final T20I match on October 12 at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
