On October 9, 2024, Indian captain Rohit Sharma was spotted in a practice session at Jio Park, Mumbai. The practice comes ahead of the much-anticipated three-match Test series against New Zealand, starting on October 16. India’s Test skipper is leaving no stone unturned as he prepares for the upcoming challenges, including the prestigious Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia in late November.

Rohit Sharma, who recently announced his retirement from T20 Internationals after India’s victorious ICC T20 World Cup 2024 campaign, is now fully focused on Test cricket. Even though he is on a 14-day break following the series win against Bangladesh, the “Hitman” has chosen to spend this time honing his skills on the field. India’s Test season promises to be packed, and Rohit’s leadership and form at the top will be critical.

A fan shared a video on X (formerly Twitter), capturing Rohit Sharma in the middle of an intense practice session. Rohit, who had some difficulty converting his promising starts into big scores during the recently concluded Test series against Bangladesh, is keen to make amends.

Despite leading India to a dominant 2-0 victory over Bangladesh, Rohit’s personal scores of 23, 8, 6, and 5 in the last four innings reflect a need for improvement.

Alongside young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rohit will be aiming to give India strong starts in the upcoming series against New Zealand, a crucial fixture in the World Test Championship cycle.

Road To Border-Gavaskar Trophy

The New Zealand series will be a significant warm-up for India before their tour to Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. After the three matches against New Zealand at home, India will face Australia in a five-match series starting in late November. This series will be India’s final assignment in the ongoing ICC World Test Championship, and Rohit’s performance will play a major role in India’s chances of making it to the final.
