ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 | NZ-W vs SA-W | Match 16, Preview, Prediction, Fantasy XI

We have arrived at yet another blockbuster in the 12th edition of the ICC Women's World Cup. This time, it's the hosts, the New Zealand Women, who will take on the South African Women at Seddon Park in Hamilton on March 17, 2022.

After losing the Trans-Tasman clash, New Zealand have dropped to fourth place on the points table. In contrast, the South African women's team are enjoying their undefeated streak and are comfortably seated in second place with six points. Another win and they’ll seal their place in the semi-finals.

In their four matches so far, the White Ferns have won two and lost two. In their previous match, they failed to turn up and lost by 141 runs to Australia Women, chasing 270 to win. The bowlers are doing well but the batting has been questionable throughout the tournament. The batters need to pull up their socks against a formidable-looking South African bowling attack.

Amelia Kerr and Amy Satterthwaite have been the star performers for the White Ferns. Apart from them, Lea Tahuhu has taken wickets at clusters in the last two matches and holds the key for New Zealand, especially in the middle overs. Suzie Bates and skipper Sophie Devine have batted well but haven't been at their peak so far. Local fans will love it if they come out strong against the Proteas side.

Speaking of the World No.2 ODI side, South Africa Women have lived up to the expectations as they are becoming one of the hot favourites to win the silverware this time. They are just coming off of their third successive win and are flying high at the moment. The game against England Women was not a cakewalk as they toiled hard till the very last over to make it three out of three in the tournament.  They chased down 236 runs, their most successful run chase in World Cup history.

Although they haven’t scored big totals yet they are surely a potent enough lineup to put huge runs on the boards. Plus, they have been restricting opponents with their sharp bowling and fielding.

In her previous outing, Marizanne Kapp took 5 wickets and scored crucial runs. With their accurate lines and length, Shabnim Ismail and Ayabonga Khaka are taking the game away from their opposition. These three bowlers have been the backbone of the attack.

The Seddon Park pitch will be used for the fifth time in the ongoing cricket festival and will get slower as the match progresses.
