India pacer Jasprit Bumrah and Sri Lanka’s Dimuth Karunaratne have been rewarded for their brilliant performance in the recently-concluded Test series between the two sides.
Bumrah who scalped a total of 10 wickets in the series including a fifer jumped up six spots and is now sitting at number fourth position.
“Jasprit Bumrah, who bagged eight wickets, including his maiden Test five-for at home in the second India v Sri Lanka Test in Bangalore, jumped up six spots to attain fourth ranking in the MRF Tyres ICC Test Rankings for bowlers. The Indian speedster leapfrogged Shaheen Afridi, Kyle Jamieson, Tim Southee, James Anderson, Neil Wagner and Josh Hazlewood in the table,” an ICC statement said.
Sri Lanka Test skipper Karunaratne unleashed an exceptional performance with the bat in the second innings of the second Test after he notched up a century and attained a career-best No.3.
Former India captain Virat Kohli saw a decline in his rankings as he is now placed at number 9. Kohli could only nag to score 45, 23 & 13 during the course of the series.
“In the batting charts, Sri Lanka Test captain Dimuth Karunaratne jumped up to a career-best No.3 after his fighting 107 in the second innings in Bangalore. Virat Kohli, however, slipped to the ninth spot,” the statement added.
