On October 13, Washington Sundar bagged the 'Impact Fielder' Award for the T20I series against Bangladesh. Sundar edged out Hardik Pandya and Riyan Parag to secure the award, earning high praise from India fielding coach, T. Dilip.

According to Dilip, Sundar has reached a new level in fielding and for his outstanding performance in the series, Dilip described him as a “different player”. Sundar played a key role in cutting down runs by positioning himself perfectly on the field. His agility and precision made him a standout performer, especially at the boundary line.

The official X account of BCCI shared behind-the-scenes footage of the team celebrating the award ceremony in the dressing room. Coach Dilip applauded the entire team for their energy, with a special nod to Hardik Pandya, who he likened to a "Formula 1 car" for his fast-paced fielding, and Riyan Parag for his sharp angles and effortless catching.

Despite Pandya and Parag’s impressive displays, it was Sundar’s ability to take crucial catches and maintain composure under pressure that gave him the edge. Throughout the series, Sundar grabbed three catches and bowled with remarkable control, keeping his economy rate at just five runs per over.

"This honestly feels amazing. I try and give my 100 per cent whenever I am on the field. And everyone can contribute on the field, no matter what is the situation. Very very grateful for this, thanks to T Dilip sir and the entire support staff." Sundar said after receiving the award.

Sundar's performance wasn’t limited to fielding. With the ball, he conceded runs at a miserly rate and took three crucial wickets at an average of 6.67.
