As Sri Lanka and the West Indies prepare to kick off their three-match T20I series, weather forecasts doesn't look promising for the opening encounter at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium. The first match of the series is set to begin at 7:00 PM IST, but heavy rain is anticipated, potentially leading to delays or interruptions throughout the match. 

Weather Threatens To Disrupt First T20I 

According to AccuWeather reports, the likelihood of rain is high, with a 70% chance of rainfall during the evening and predictions of approximately 1.4 mm of precipitation. The weather in Dambulla is expected to remain cloudy, humid, during the game. Forecasts indicate that temperatures will hover around 21°C, with a significant probability of heavy rainfall in the evening. 

The sky will be covered by thick clouds, and with chances of thunderstorms which could cause extended delays or even force the match to be shortened.

Humidity level is predicted to reach around 88%, and southwest winds will be blowing at approximately 13 km/h, that can gust up to 28 km/h. Given the forecast, players and fans alike should be prepared for interruptions, as the wet and windy conditions may affect both teams’ gameplay.
