In a significant development, a new T20 league is on the cards as Guyana is all set to launch the Global Super League, which will be played from November 26 to December 7. It will be a five-team competition, which is sanctioned by Cricket West Indies (CWI).

The Caribbeans already have a Caribbean Premier League (CPL), which is successful and came to an end on Monday, October 7.  St Lucia Kings emerged victorious for the first time as the faf du Plessis-led side beat Guyana Amazon Warriors in the finals.

Besides CWI, the government of Guyana have also shown support for this league and are also a "key stakeholder" in the competition, which has a prize money of US$1 million.
