3 Things Bangladesh Should Rectify To Bounce Back In The 2nd T20I vs India

On Sunday, October 6, India and Bangladesh locked horns for the first of three T20I matches at the Gwalior International Stadium in Madhya Pradesh. The Men in Blue registered an emphatic seven-wicket win with 49 balls in hand.

The Tigers, batting first, tumbled for just 127 runs, while India chased down the target in just 11.5 overs. The Tigers were submissive and couldn't dominate the match. However, they would look to turn around things in the 2nd match by making these three changes.

1. Correct Shot Selection

In the first match, the Bangladeshi players played bad shots and lost their wickets. The Tigers could have posted a higher score, but poor shot selection restricted them to just 127 runs.

Litton Das was the first one to play a rash shot and gave India an advantage early on in the match. Further, skipper Najmul Shanto too was clueless in his batting and gave an easy catch and bowled to Washington Sundar.

Things went too far when experienced Mahmadullah danced down the track to hit Mayank Yadav for a big hit and found Sundar at the boundary ropes. The shot selection was criticised as he couldn't time the ball.

2. Being Over-Aggressive Cost Bangladesh

It is good to show intent with the bat, but being over-aggressive can prove to be costly and something similar happened with the Najmul Shanto-led side.

They wanted to attack from the first ball and despite losing wickets at regular intervals, they did not change their approach and tried whacking every other ball for a boundary.

3. Poor Execution In Middle-Order

Analysing the first T20I, Bangladesh lost two wickets in the powerplay but also had 40 runs on the board. The Tigers could have used the middle-overs wisely to tick the scorecard, but they lost five wickets from 7th-14th over that left them crippled.

Thus, the Najmul Shanto-led side should play according to the situation and look to utilise the middle-overs in a better way and bounce back in the upcoming match scheduled at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on October 9.
