On Monday, October 6, India faced Bangladesh in the first T20I match at the Gwalior International Match in Madhya Pradesh. It was an emotional day for Mayank Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy as the two youngsters made their India debut.

Following a great IPL 2024, Mayank Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy caught the selectors' eyes and were selected for the ongoing series. While it was an emotional day for the two young stars, it was a sign of concern for Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Why Nitish Kumar Reddy's Debut A Concern For SRH?

Since Nitish and Mayank have made their debut, now they are no more uncapped players, and if the franchises wish to retain them for the upcoming IPL 2025 season, they would have to spend at least 11 crores as per the new retentional policy by BCCI.

If the players had not made their debut, then LSG and SRH could have retained them for just four crores. However, this article will focus on Nitish Reddy and see what could be SRH's potential uncapped retention since Reddy has made his debut.

Mayank Markande: The Suitable Option For SRH

Mayank Markande is the most suitable option for SRH as the right-arm off-spinner did well for the Men in Orange in IPL 2024 and was their premier spinner. Thus, the Pat Cummins-led side would look to go ahead with Markande and retain him for 4 crores.

It is worth noting that Mayank has played a solitary match for India in 2019, but according to the new rules, he would be considered an uncapped player because his last international match came over five years ago.  In his last two IPL seasons, he took 20 wickets and performed well for SRH.
