Maharashtra took on Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) at the latter’s home ground in their opening Elite Group A match of the 2024 Ranji Trophy season on October 11. While hosts walked off the field with an early advantage by stumps, fans of the home team, especially the ones who attended the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium in Srinagar for the live action, were still left disappointed.

As per a video circulating on social media, several fans present at the stadium complained about rugged and almost road-like seating conditions. Moreover, the fans also alleged that the stadium did not have any proper water or washroom facilities either.

Several spectators in attendance of the Jammu and Kashmir vs Maharashtra Ranji Trophy 2024 match at the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium complained of unfavourable seating conditions. A near two-minute-long video circulating on social media demonstrates the almost road-like seating adjustments, with some fans alleging that they were ‘forced’ to sit in these conditions despite the presence of proper stands at the stadium.

The Riveting Contest Between Maharashtra And J&K

The match itself, however, turned out to be an exhilarating one between the two competitive teams. Winning the toss and fielding first, Maharashtra bowlers managed to pick up the early wicket of Abhinav Puri before his opening partner Shubham Khajuria charted an unbeaten 130 from 200 balls.

Shubham Pundir and Paras Dogra belted identical 30s, while SRH star Abdul Samad scored 23 runs from his end. Centurion Khajuria (130*) will resume the Jammu and Kashmir innings on Day 2 alongside fellow unbeaten batter Shivansh Sharma (18*) at 264-5 from 80 overs.

For Maharashtra, Hitesh Walunj picked up two wickets while new ball operators Rajneesh Gurbani and Mukesh Choudhary also struck a wicket each.
