The media rights for Bangladesh’s upcoming two-match Test series against Zimbabwe have gone unsold. While Bangladesh’s home series has been aired on T Sports and GTV through the Millennium Media Consortium in the past few years, the agreement expired after Bangladesh hosted South Africa for two Tests back in October and November last year.
With just a couple of days remaining prior to the start of the Zimbabwe series, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has now come up with an alternate solution for fans in the country.
BTV to air Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe series
State-run Bangladesh Television (BTV) will be broadcasting the entirety of Bangladesh’s two-match home Test series against Zimbabwe. They will receive the feed through the production satellite designed by the BCB.
The decision was made after the BCB struggled to secure a media rights partner for the series. The board issued an open call and put forth financial proposals in March last month. However, up until April 7, the BCB received no bids from any interested parties.
The lack of interest prompted the BCB to resort to the state-run broadcaster in a bid to ensure that the series gets a television medium for fans throughout the country.
BAN vs ZIM 2025 series
The Bangladesh team, led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, will host Zimbabwe in a two-match Test series. The first Test will be played between April 20 and April 24 and will be hosted by the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium in Sylhet.
The two teams will subsequently travel to Chittagong for the series-decider, set to be played between April 28 and May 2 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.
