On April 18, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) were set to lock horns against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 34th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. However, the toss has been delayed due to the rain in the match.

So far this season, RCB has lost both of their home matches at this stadium, so they’ll be hoping to finally win one today. RCB recently defeated Rajasthan Royals by 9 wickets in their last match on Sunday, while Punjab Kings pulled off a close win against Kolkata Knight Riders on Tuesday (April 15) in a low-scoring game.

It is important to note Chinnaswamy Stadium is known for having a great drainage system called the SubAir system. It helps remove water from the field very quickly, which means the ground can be ready soon after the rain stops.

The rain hasn’t stopped, and the ground is still covered. The cut-off time for a five-over game is 10:56 PM IST and Local Time. The toss should take place at least 15 minutes before the start of play.

What If RCB vs PBKS Gets Washed Out?

The umpires will wait until 11:30 PM to try and start the game. But if the rain doesn’t stop and the match can’t begin, it will be called off since there’s no reserve day for group-stage matches. In that case, the game will be declared a “No Result”, and both teams will get 1 point each.

RCB would move to second place on the points table, and PBKS will also go up to third. The net run rate (NRR) for both teams will stay the same.
