The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) franchise has signed in young South African batting star Dewald Brevis into the squad for the IPL 2025 season. The 21-year-old, soon to be 22, was roped in by the CSK management as an injury replacement for uncapped Indian fast bowler Gurjapneet Singh.

The franchise made the announcement on Friday, April 18, i.e., shortly after Brevis teased his CSK joining with a subtle social media post. Fans, especially CSK enthusiasts, were quick to express their admirations and excitement over the prospects of Dewald’s latest signing, as the franchise aims to resurrect itself amidst a rather lop-sided IPL 2025 show so far.

Fans react as Dewald Brevis joins CSK

Dewald Brevis, fondly known as “Baby AB” because of his hard-hitting abilities much reminiscent to that of a certain legendary South African, has joined the CSK franchise for the IPL 2025 season as an injury replacement for Gurjapneet Singh.

A legion of CSK fans took to social media and expressed their excitement over the same. However, certain fans also took this opportunity to troll the CSK management, claiming that the team will likely bench him in the tournament since the soon-to-be 22-year-old does not fits the “senior” criteria.

The CSK franchise will now face Mumbai Indians in match 38 of the IPL 2025 season at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday, April 20. The ‘Yellow Brigade’ is currently placed at the bottom of the points table.
