In the ongoing Women's T20 World Cup 2024, defending champions Australia have dealt two heavy blows as their star players have suffered injuries. Australia skipper Alyssa Healy and Tayla Vlaeminck took a blow and are doubtful for the India match.

In the recently concluded match between Pakistan and Australia, the defending champions were all over the Women in Green. They handed them a nine-wicket defeat with nine overs in hand. Pakistan, batting first, tumbled for just 82 runs, while Australia chased the target in just 11 overs at a loss of one wicket. However, they face a crucial Test against India on October 13 and could be without their two-star players.

Healy And Vlaeminck Doubtful For India Match

Talking about Vlaeminck, she was playing her first game of the tournament and dislocated her shoulder on the fourth ball of the first over of the match. She was standing at the boundary ropes when one fielding effort saw her lying on the floor in immense pain.

The physios relocated her shoulder, but she didn't participate further in the match and could potentially be ruled out of the tournament. It is worth noting that it is the third time that Tayla has dislocated her shoulder.

Shedding light on skipper Healy's injury, she was batting well on 37 (23), which is when she pulled her hamstring in search of a double. After being troubled by the pain, Healy decided to retire hurt and her participation in India's game hangs by a thread. As per the latest update, both players have undergone scans and the reports are awaited to provide further clarity on the injury.

Do-Do-Die Match For India

At the moment, Australia can afford to play a match with their skipper on the bench as the Women in Yellow are sitting on top of the group with three wins in three matches. However, it is a crucial match for India on October 13 as they would eye for a win to keep a foot in the semi-finals. A defeat would result in a Harmanpreet Kaur-led side depending on other results.
