After a crushing defeat in the first Test, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is considering several key changes to the squad for the second Test against England. According to sports journalist Qadir Khawaja from Samaa TV, the board is likely to include Imam ul Haq, Kamran Ghulam, Mir Hamza, Nauman Ali, and young opener Mohammad Huraira in the lineup.

An inning and 47-run defeat is what it took for the PCB to take action against the dropping standards of the Pakistan cricket team. Shan Masood and Co. surrendered against England in the first Test at Multan as despite scoring 556 runs in the first inning, they endured a never seen before defeat.

PCB to take action after shameful Multan Test loss

Having said that, with the second Test also scheduled at Multan on October 15, PCB is mulling several changes to the squad, as reported by Qadir Khawaja of Samaa TV. Imam ul Haq, Kamran Ghulam, Mir Hamza, Nauman Ali, and Huraira are likely to be called up in the coming days.

Imam has been fairly successful at home, while Kamran Ghulam, who has been performing well in domestic cricket, may be brought in to strengthen the troubling middle order. Mir Hamza, a left-arm fast bowler, and Nauman Ali, a left-arm spinner, could balance the bowling attack.

Besides, young and talented Mohammad Huraira, who has also shown promise in domestic competitions, might get a chance to make his Test debut.

That being said, it remains to be seen which senior players will have to make way for these new additions as Pakistan cricket faces a grim situation.

Shan Masood likely to lose Test captaincy after shambolic record

Shan Masood, who took over as Test format captain after Babar Azam’s resignation last year, is yet to lead Pakistan to a win. In 6 Test matches played under his leadership, Pakistan hit rock bottom with 6 losses. Hence, Qadir Khawaja believes that Masood could be sacked as captain after the ongoing three-game series against England. Mohammad Rizwan, Saud Shakeel, and Agha Salman are potential candidates for immediate replacement.
