Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi has withdrawn from the remaining part of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2022, the reason being a lower-back injury.
Afridi, who plays for Quetta Gladiators in Pakistan's premier T20 domestic tournament, has looked like a pale show of himself in the ongoing season. However, the veteran cricketer produced a decent performance yesterday, claiming two wickets in a high-scoring encounter.
As Afridi has decided not to take further part in PSL 2022, Quetta Gladiators led by Sarfaraz Ahmed now needs an urgent fillup in their spin-bowling department.
The 41-year-old shared the news on his official YouTube channel, expressing gratitude towards his well-wishers for their invaluable support.
"I wanted to end PSL on a good note but I have been playing with the lower-back injury for 15-16 years now and the pain is quite intense where I feel pain in my groin, knee and even the fingers of the foot," Afridi informed.
Afridi will be undergoing rehab to regain his fitness. He assured his fans that they will get to see him back on the cricket field.
"Health is everything and I can't further endure the pain.
"I will come back on the field once again for my fans, keep me in your prayers," Afridi shared.
