Bangladesh batting coach Jamie Siddons tests positive for Covid-19

In an unfortunate turn of events, Bangladesh’s new batting coach, Jamie Siddons has tested positive for Covid-19. The news was confirmed by BCB’s cricket operations committee chairman, Jalal Yunus.

The 57-year old former Aussie player arrived in Bangladesh last week. However, he didn’t initially have a role specified by the BCB. Board president, Nazmul Hassan has said in December that it was “not yet finalized in which area he will work in, whether it is the high performance, Under-19s or the senior team.”

Siddons was announced as Bangladesh’s new batting coach, shortly after Ashwell Prince resigned from the same post, three days ago, citing personal reasons.

Since arriving in the country a week ago, Siddons has kept an eye on the Bangladesh Premier League and has also traveled to Sylhet. For the time being, he’ll be in quarantine in his hotel room in Dhaka.

Siddons worked as Bangladesh’s head coach from 2007-11 and delivered several breakthroughs and will be hoping to replicate the same performance once again.
