Rajasthan Royals is one of those IPL franchises which is not afraid to give debuts to youngsters. Be it Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel or giving opportunities to their skipper, Sanju Samson, RR has always backed youngsters to come good. This season, too, they have a prodigy in the form of Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
The 14-year-old teenage star came into limelight when he was bought by RR for 1.10 crore, but the youngster has warmed the bench so far in 6 league matches, but head coach Rahul Dravid has given a massive hint on Suryavanshi's potential debut for RR Vs DC.
Will Vaibhav Suryavanshi make his RR debut?
Recently the batter impressed everyone in nets when he took down one of the fastest bowlers, Jofra Archer with ease and it brought a smile on Jofra's face. So, will he make his IPL debut tonight? Dravid answers.
"He is training really well, and he looks like a really good and exciting talent but there are other equally good players as well and part of our responsibility is to groom him well, give him a little bit of time in the environment, let him get used to it and practice with the players, let him get a feel of the environment, all these are great experiences for him, rather than putting him straight in front of the crowd so it's a part of the process we follow in grooming a player and if an opportunity arises we won't be scared to play him if it is required," said Dravid.
Who can Suryavanshi replace?
RR won't tweak with the opening combination of Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal and the the likes of Riyan Parag, Shimron Hetmyer, and Dhruv Jurel will also not be dropped. Hence, the only logical option is to drop Nitish Rana.
The batter, who usually bats at number 3 wasn't used in that position in the last match against RCB and it seems the management doesn't trust Nitish. Hence, they could provide Suryavanshi a chance to play at number 3 against DC.
