The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 has reached the half-way stage, and there have been some spectacular performances in the last one month. Apart from the usual performers, there have been some players who just took their game to the next level from the last season.

A lot of big stars were released by their respective franchises ahead of the mega auction, but in their new team, they have started to thrive and have become a force to reckon with. In this piece we will talk about 3 such players who have excelled after leaving their previous franchise.

1) KL Rahul

The former Lucknow Super Giants captain, KL Rahul endured a tough time last year as his team failed to deliver, and moreover, KL Rahul had a rough season which infuriated team owner, Sanjiv Goenka and the two had an argument as well.

Ahead of the IPL mega auction, he was released and DC snapped him for 14 crores. The Karnataka batter was an instant success as he continues to pile up his stocks.

In 6 matches, KL Rahul has accumulated 266 runs, and most importantly his strike-rate is almost touching 160 with two half-centuries. He has resurrected his IPL career and will be eager to end the tournament on a high.

2) Tim David

Perhaps MI's biggest mistake in the IPL mega auction, Tim David was a part of their squad last season but the franchise decided to release him and RCB pounced on to make him their own. The decision was criticised, but Tim David has certainly become RCB's best player this season.

He has become the perfect finisher for the franchise and has become their batting mainstay at number 7. This was evident during his whirlwind knock against PBKS and his strike-rate of 194.52 tells us about how impactful the batter has been for the franchise.

3) Jos Buttler

The biggest blunder of the IPL 2025 auction was done by Rajasthan Royals by letting go off Jos Buttler. This was a bizarre decision as Buttler was their best batter since 2022 and should have been retained, but that was not the case. GT came calling for him and he has been unstoppable this season.
