3 Players Who Can Replace Rishabh Pant As Delhi Capitals' Captain For IPL 2025

On Thursday, October 17, several media outlets reported that Delhi Capitals are looking for a change in leadership going into IPL 2025. According to the reports, the top leadership want Rishabh Pant to play as a batter and take away the captaincy pressure off his shoulders. Thus, this article will shed light on three players who can replace Rishabh Pant.

The  reports also mention that Delhi Capitals will be looking for potential captains at the IPL mega-auction likely to take place on November 24 and 25 in Riyadh. 

1. Axar Patel

Patel is the front-runner to captain Capitals as one of the reports mentioned that the management are looking at Axar as Pant's replacement. Axar had a brilliant IPL 2024, where he contributed with the bat and also shone with the ball. 

He has leadership qualities and almost acted as a deputy to Pant during the latest IPL edition for the Capitals. 

2. KL Rahul

The report from The Times of India mentioned that besides Patel, Delhi Capitals are looking to keep an option open to buy captain-like players from the auction. Talking about KL Rahul, there are reports that the LSG captain is looking to shift bases and might go under the hammer in the upcoming mega-auction.

Recently, Indian Express published a report where they featured that LSG are keen on retaining Nicholas Pooran and remarked that they are yet to make a call on KL Rahul, further hinting at Rahul's likely transfer

3. Rohit Sharma

Similar To KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma is also reported to be wanting to move out of Mumbai Indians because of the treatment he received last year after being sacked as MI captain. 

Latest reports suggest that Rohit is a part of MI's retention plan, but in case things don't work out and the former India skipper enters the auction, Delhi Capitals would have a go at the hitman.
