Former India cricketer turned commentator, Sanjay Manjrekar has once again fired shots on Indian stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The 59-year old cricketer is his latest remarks has claimed that the two have passed their prime in the longest format of the game ahead of the Border Gavaskar Trophy between Australia and India.
India has enjoyed a remarkable run against Australia in recent series, winning the last four encounters, including two notable victories on Australian soil during the 2018-19 and 2020-21 tours.

With this brilliant record, India has almost floored the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) opponent. At the same time, India has reached the summit ten times compared to Australia's five. The last time Australia triumphed in a series against India was during the 2014-15 season, and they last secured a series win in India in the 2004-05 campaign.
Due to their heightened rivalry, the two teams will face off against each other for the first Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy series on November 22 at Perth.
In an interview with SportifyWithPRG, Manjrekar said that Kohli-Rohit are not in their prime and that youngsters like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill are due to rise on the occasion
"It might be a tough one. Virat and Rohit, both are not in their prime, they are not at the peak of their powers to be fair and others like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill have to rise to the occasion. Rishabh Pant is the only one that I feel is in his prime and a very important player," he said.
Talking about the bowling of the Indian team, he said, "India is sorted ... As for the Australians, the aura and ability they had in the past, where every game they played, they were like champions, is not there anymore."
Bumrah To Take Over Captaincy?
Meanwhile according to floating reports, Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma is likely to miss the first Test. He has informed the BCCI that he may need to miss at least one of the first two Tests due to a personal matter. It is expected that in his absence Jasprit Bumrah, who has been named India's vice captain for the upcoming New Zealand series, would take charge.
Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 Schedule
The highly anticipated second Test between Australia and India is slated for December 6 to 10 at the iconic Adelaide Oval, featuring a day-night format that promises exciting cricket under lights. Following this, the action moves to Brisbane's Gabba for the third Test, scheduled from December 14 to 18.
The series will also include the Boxing Day Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, taking place from December 26 to 30. The series will conclude with the fifth and final Test at the Sydney Cricket Ground, set for January 3 to 7.
