Veteran All-Rounder Explains How KKR Can Qualify For IPL Playoffs With MI Reference

Kolkata Knight Riders haven't had a memorable IPL 2025 journey so far. Led by Ajinkya Rahane, the defending champions have lost five of their first eight fixtures in the tournament. However, experienced all-rounder Moeen Ali believes the Knight Riders can still get a wildcard entry into the playoffs. 

Moeen Ali Urges KKR To Learn From MI

Tonight, KKR will take on Punjab Kings in their ninth group-stage match of the ongoing season. Ahead of the high-voltage clash, Moeen seemed optimistic about his team's dramatic comeback, urging them to take a lesson or two from Mumbai Indians, a team that recently changed its fortunes with excellent planning and execution. 

Led by Hardik Pandya, Mumbai Indians have won four consecutive matches, throwing their hat into a playoffs qualification against the odds. 

As quoted by India Today, Moeen stated that KKR have all the ingredients to script a fairytale comeback in the tournament. 

"Yes, definitely if you look at history, even if you look at Mumbai, for example, now they had a bit of a bad start and now they've won, I think 4 in a row, 5 in a row, and they're flying. So we also need to have that same mindset and do the same thing where we have, we're at the halfway stage now, we have to win most of our games. But this squad and team have played well enough so far, I think, to show that we can go on a run and win games," the English all-rounder said. 

However, he also maintained that the Knight Riders must showcase the courage and fighting spirit to remain unbeaten in their subsequent affairs. 

"But it's gonna take a lot of determination, a lot of belief for us to do that, and it's one of those things and competitions where you can go on a run and win 4 or 5 games in a row," he added. 

KKR To Face Spirited PBKS 

In a must-win affair, KKR are set to face PBKS at Eden Gardens tonight. This game is significantly important from their perspective, as another loss would further jeopardise their hopes of retaining the IPL title.
