Shaik Rasheed made an impressive debut in the IPL on Monday, helping CSK bounce back with a win against LSG. Playing his first IPL match, Rasheed scored a quick 27 runs off just 19 balls and dedicated his special knock to unsung heroes, i.e. net bowlers.

Chennai Super Kings, reeling from 5 losses in 6 games, were jolted with a big blow as captain Ruturaj Gaikwad got ruled out for the IPL 2025 season due to an elbow fracture.

While MS Dhoni returned as captain, CSK still needed someone to fill Gaikwad’s shoes in the batting order. That is when they placed trust on Shaik Rasheed.

Shaik Rasheed, a young top-order batsman from Andhra Pradesh, partnered with Rachin Ravindra to open for CSK in their recent game against LSG. He made a brisk 27 runs off mere 19 balls, striking six boundaries and propelling CSK to a solid beginning in their pursuit of 167.

Meanwhile, in a video shared by the IPL, he revealed that he was nervous before his debut and senior players Shivam Dube and MS Dhoni advised him to stay calm, focus on the ball, and not get distracted by the crowd. He dedicated his performance to the net bowlers who helped him prepare.

"I was very nervous. How should I play? The approach is the same. I have to show my intent. Shivam Bhai and Mahi Bhai said the way things keep your body as calm as possible. Don't look at the audience. Just react to the ball; that's it. I want to dedicate this knock to the net bowlers. They bowled so well. They put in a lot of effort for me. That's why I gave it to them," Rasheed said.

After 5 losses, CSK looked confident against LSG. But due to low points, the team is still seated at the bottom of the points table.

MS Dhoni Sets IPL Ablaze With Vintage Form

MS Dhoni once again reminded the cricketing world why he’s still the finisher, pulling CSK out of a slump with a breathtaking cameo in their IPL 2025 clash against LSG. With CSK requiring 56 off the last 5 overs, Dhoni came in amidst a deafening roar. The 43-year-old great hit an unbeaten 26 off just 11 balls, with 4 boundaries and a classic one-handed six, to lead CSK to a much-needed victory and break their 5-match losing streak.
