Former CSK captain MS Dhoni has entered history books again with a rare achievement as wicketkeeper. He completed 200 dismissals as a keeper in IPL, a feat that places him on top of the list of most successful wicketkeepers.

Dhoni earned the status of a legend for Chennai Super Kings when he led the team to 5 IPL titles. This year, Ruturaj Gaikwad’s elbow injury marked the return of Dhoni as captain.

In a recent clash between CSK and LSG, the wicketkeeper unleashed his magic with gloves to script a historic record.

MS Dhoni Collects 200 Dismissals As Wicketkeeper

Legendary former captain MS Dhoni has become the most successful wicketkeeper in the history of IPL with 200 dismissals to his name. He reached this historic number during CSK’s match against LSG in IPL 2025.

Dhoni’s 200th dismissal came when he stumped Ayush Badoni, showing once again why he’s still one of the best, even at the age of 43.

Ravindra Jadeja tossed one quick and wide outside off. Badoni, who had just found a rhythm with a few stylish shots and a couple of lucky breaks, decided to charge down the track. He looked to loft Jadeja over long-off, but completely misread the pace and width.

What followed was vintage MS Dhoni. Standing slightly behind the stumps, MS collected the ball cleanly and in one smooth motion, whipped off the bails in a flash. No time wasted, no fuss, just textbook glove work  from one of the best in the business.

MS Dhoni is leading the record table of most dismissals recorded by a wicketkeeper in IPL and has become the first keeper to unlock 200 wickets in the Indian Premier League.

That being said, LSG dug their own grave by throwing away partnerships. While Nicholas Pooran failed, Rishabh Pant and Mitchell Marsh contributed 38 and 30 runs respectively. But it wasn’t enough to guide LSG to a par total.
