Sanju Samson delivered an emphatic response to his critics on Saturday as he smashed his first T20I century, leading India to a record-breaking triumph over Bangladesh in the final T20I at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Samson, who had modest scores in the first two matches of the series, came into this game with something to prove and produced a masterclass.

Sanju Samson's Masterclass Innings

Thanks to Samson's fiery innings (111 runs off 58 balls), studded with 11 fours and eight sixes, India posted their highest-ever T20I total(297/6), the highest total by a Test-playing nation in T20I's. Opting to bat first, the Indian team exhibited a dominant display with the bat, setting Bangladesh an almost impossible target.

Despite starting decently in the series, Samson had struggled to convert his starts into significant contributions, but he turned that around in style in the final match. His innings showed an aggressive intent, quickly dismantling the Bangladeshi bowling attack. Playing confidently and precisely, Samson took calculated risks and punished anything loose, and propelled India to a mammoth score.

Samson Opens Up On India's Aggressive Mindset

Following the match, Samson spoke to JioCinema about his innings and the team’s aggressive approach. He shared insights into the team's strategy that Rohit Sharma initially laid out following India’s 2022 World Cup campaign.

"Rohit Sharma took the decision that we need to play more aggressively after the 2022 World Cup. Rohit led from the front, now Surya and Gauti bhai carrying it ahead."

Sanju Samson credited the team's new aggressive mindset for their recent successes, and praised the impact of new head coach Gautam Gambhir and Suryakumar Yadav on the team’s approach.

“It’s great to see how Gauti bhai and Surya have embraced this style. They encourage us to play our shots, back ourselves, and keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible,” he said.

Chasing the daunting target, Bangladesh was under pressure from the beginning and never looked like they could match India’s batting firepower. India’s bowlers then capitalized on the scoreboard pressure and restricted Bangladesh to win the match by 133 runs and seal an emphatic series victory.
