In the  significant development, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that fitness assessments will be conducted for four team players ahead of the second Test match against England, scheduled to begin on October 15 in Multan. According to the reports of 'Cricket Pakistan', the tests will involve Kamran Ghulam, Zahid Mahmood, Imam-ul-Haq, and Nauman Ali, all of whom have been summoned to Multan for evaluations today (October 12). 

Why Is PCB Conducting This Fitness Test? 

Kamran Ghulam, Zahid Mahmood, Imam-ul-Haq, and Nauman Ali have all been selected for these fitness evaluations after issues arose during the build-up to the first Test. According to reports of 'Cricket Pakistan' both Nauman and Zahid were released from the squad for the first Test after failing to meet the PCB’s rigorous fitness requirements. 

As the team prepares for the crucial second match, the board hopes these assessments will ensure the players are fit and ready for the challenges ahead.

It is important to mention that, Pakistan's recent struggles in the Test arena have underscored the importance of fitness. With England leading the series 1-0 following a decisive victory in the first Test, Pakistan's management is keen to address all fitness-related issues to improve the team’s overall performance.

In the same report an update is given about Abrar Ahmed’s health and he remains under medical care . The Spinner was ill during the first Test match and was hospitalized. Sources within the team confirm that Abrar will miss the second Test as he continues his recovery.

Why Is Second Test Important For Pakistan? 

Pakistan's loss is the first Test in Multan, is a significant setback as it extends their winless streak at home to eleven matches. Pakistan has been struggling to regain their dominance in Test cricket on home soil. With a PCT of 18.52%, Pakistan now finds itself at the bottom of the WTC standings. So, the second match is essential for Shan Masood and Co. as they need to make specific changes to improve their position in the standings.
