If there is one thing Gujarat Titans (GT) have mastered since their IPL debut, it’s the art of chasing. Time and again, they have turned pressure situations into moments of glory, chasing down totals that looked like mountains with a calmness that would put monks to shame.

And after steamrolling Delhi with their biggest-ever chase on Saturday in IPl 2025, it’s only fair we tip our hats and look back at Gujarat Titans’ top five highest successful run-chases in IPL history.

5. 190 vs Punjab Kings | IPL 2022, Brabourne

This was peak drama. Punjab Kings, riding high on a 27-ball 64 from Liam Livingstone and some late blows from Jitesh Sharma, put up 189/9 on the board. GT’s bowling was a mixed bag, but Rashid Khan stood out with a 3-fer while Darshan Nalkande chipped in with 2 wickets.

In response, Shubman Gill was in the zone. Elegant drives, cheeky nudges and the occasional big hit, Gill batted like a dream. His 96 off 59 balls was the heartbeat of the chase. GT needed 12 off the final 2 balls with Rahul Tewatia on strike. What did he do? Whacked two sixes off Odean Smith to finish things off like it was child’s play.

4. 196 vs Sunrisers Hyderabad | IPL 2022, Wankhede

This one had everything: pace, power and pandemonium. Abhishek Sharma’s explosive 65 and Markram’s classy 56 lifted SRH to 195/6. Shashank Singh then played a blistering cameo: 25* off just 6 balls, smashing Ferguson for 3 sixes in the final over.

But GT’s reply was electric. Wriddhiman Saha played a blinder, smashing 68 off 38. Despite Umran Malik’s sensational 5-wicket haul, which derailed the middle order, GT weren’t done. With 22 needed off the last over, Rashid Khan and Tewatia went full beast mode. Rashid clubbed 3 sixes, including a six off the final ball, sealing the chase with style.

3. 197 vs Rajasthan Royals | IPL 2024, Jaipur

The Royals were cruising. Yashasvi got them off to a flyer and then Sanju Samson (68 off 38)* and Riyan Parag (76 off 48) stitched a monstrous partnership. They ended on 196/3 with Hetmyer adding some finishing touches.

GT’s chase was bumpy. Shubman Gill scored a fluent 72 but kept losing partners at the other end. Kuldeep Sen rattled the lower order with three wickets, and when Tewatia was run out with 7 needed off 2, it looked like the game was slipping away. But Rashid Khan once again proved why he is box office. With two needed off the final ball, he smashed a boundary off Avesh Khan to win it for GT.

2. 198 vs RCB | IPL 2023, Bengaluru

Virat Kohli was on fire, hammering a brilliant unbeaten 101 off 61 balls, his team scoring 197/5 in a must-win game. It looked like RCB had done enough to push for the playoffs. GT’s bowling had leaked runs but Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad picked up key wickets to pull things back in the middle overs.

The chase was a Shubman Gill masterclass. He made the Chinnaswamy crowd fall silent with his sheer elegance and clean hitting. His 104 off 52* was filled with sensational shots, pick-up flicks, lofted drives and effortless sixes. Vijay Shankar supported him with a 35-ball 53 and the Titans gunned down the target with 5 balls to spare. Kohli’s heartbreak was real, and so was GT’s chasing juggernaut.

1. 204 vs Delhi Capitals | IPL 2025, Ahmedabad

And here we are. The most recent and the biggest of them all. DC came in hot, thanks to cameos all through their batting line-up: Karun Nair (31 off 18), KL Rahul (28 off 14) and a cracking 37 from Ashutosh Sharma at the death. They ended on 203/8, a massive total by any standards.

GT lost Shubman Gill early but Jos Buttler played one of the finest IPL knocks of the season: 97* off 54 balls. It was measured aggression. He rotated strike, found gaps and smacked bowlers when needed. His partnership with Sherfane Rutherford (43 off 34) kept the scoreboard ticking and just when it looked like things could get tight, Buttler pressed the accelerator. The chase was completed in 19.2 overs with Rahul Tewatia smashing six and four off the first two deliveries of the final over by Mitchell Starc to seal GT’s highest chase in IPL.
