Preity Zinta & Rishabh Pant [Source: @Mohit_MI45, @Rajiv1841/x.com]
Bollywood actress and Punjab Kings co-owner Preity Zinta has just made it clear that she has got no beef with Rishabh Pant and the viral quote doing the rounds is total fake news. Social media loves a spicy rumour, especially when it involves IPL, big names and old auction drama but Zinta wasn’t having any of it this time.
Preity Zinta Shuts Down Fake Quote Linking Her To Rishabh Pant-PBKS Drama
It all started when an X user dropped a so-called “quote” from Zinta, claiming she took a dig at Rishabh Pant after last year’s IPL mega auction. The viral line read:
“We had both Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer – options we could have taken… but we wanted a big performer.”
The user said the quote was Zinta’s response to Pant’s infamous remark where he admitted he was only worried about being picked by Punjab Kings during the auction. That interview with LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka went viral at the time and rubbed PBKS fans the wrong way.
Zinta wasted no time clearing the air. Quoting the post directly on X, she wrote:
“I am sorry but this is fake news.”
The User Backtracks…Kind Of
To their credit, the original poster did admit that the quote was fake. But they weren’t ready to let go of the original matter.
“Ma'am, if Rishabh Pant can sit with Vikrant Gupta and Sanjiv Goenka on international TV and say anything about our Punjab Kings, then why can't we say the same?
That reply referred to Pant’s now-viral comment:
“Deep within, I only had one tension — Punjab.”
Even though Punjab Kings never bid for Pant, their social media team got their revenge by trolling him after a win over LSG.
Meanwhile, Pant’s LSG has played seven matches so far in IPL 2025 and have won four and lost three. The southpaw has been in dismal form, scoring 103 runs in 6 inning at an average of 17.16 and a strike rate of 104.04 and a fifty which came in a losing cause against CSK.
