Ravindra Jadeja will start out as one of the key aspects from Team India’s line-up when they take on New Zealand in the first Test of their three-match series in Bengaluru. The dashing all-rounder recently delivered a majestic all-round performance against Bangladesh to orchestrate India’s 2-0 series win at home.

As Team India braces itself to face New Zealand for a fresh challenge, here we take a look back at the time when Ravindra Jadeja last played a Test match in Bengaluru’s M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

When Ravindra Jadeja last played a Test in Bengaluru

A Rohit Sharma-led Team India hosted Sri Lanka for two Test matches back in March 2022. In the second Test of the series, a Day/Night affair played out at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Ravindra Jadeja punched out scores of just four and 22 across both innings.

With the ball, Jadeja sent down six wicketless overs in the first innings and knocked over Angelo Mathews in the second to claim a match-haul of 1-63 from 20 overs.

Even though the all-rounder failed to make much impact in the match, Team India still sealed the Test by 238 runs to claim the series by a 2-0 margin. Shreyas Iyer played starring role with the bat by smacking twin half-centuries, while Rishabh Pant and Rohit Sharma also scored handy runs as they set up a 447-run target for Sri Lanka.

Jasprit Bumrah picked up a sizzling five-wicket haul in the first innings to bag a sensational eight-fer in the match. Ravindra Jadeja’s spin mate Ravichandran Ashwin also chipped in with four Sri Lankan wickets in the decisive innings to fuel India’s victory.

Following a below par outing in March 2022, Ravindra Jadeja will be hoping to secure an improved all-round performance on his return to the Bengaluru venue when Team India will take on New Zealand from October 16 onwards.
