Sanju Samson is one of the nicest blokes in the Indian cricket circuit. Time and again, his peers have shared positive stories about him, and that is a hallmark of a great cricketer. Samson is one of the most positive cricketers in the country and his influence can be seen in the eyes of pacer, Sandeep Sharma.

During a period, Sandeep was lost in the wilderness and was not doing well in the IPL. During this dark period, it was Sanju Samson, who rescued the Indian seamer and resurrected his career from a downfall.

Sandeep was unsold in the IPL 2023 auction, and he was at the lowest point of his career, when an injury to Prasidh Krishna opened the doors for a miraculous comeback. RR lost Prasidh to an injury and they needed a replacement quickly. This is when Samson called Sandeep and it changed things for him.

The RR pacer had only played a combined 12 matches in 2021, 2022 season, and Samson played a punt on him.

He made me feel positive: Sandeep on Samson

“I got a call from Sanju, he talked to me. He told me a lot of positive things. He explained how me going unsold also made him feel bad personally. He believed in me and told me that I would get a chance that season," Sandeep Sharma said in a podcast.

“He was the only guy who made me feel positive during that time, which actually helped me a lot,” continued Sandeep. “He was the only one who talked in the present. He then called me to the RR camp, and then I got in because Prasidh, unfortunately, got injured.

Sandeep repaid the faith by picking up 10 wickets in 12 matches and had a strong showing with the ball. Eventually he became Rajasthan's most important bowler, especially in the slog overs.

Samson gears up for Bangladesh series

Samson was selected in the Indian squad for the Bangladesh T20Is, and captain Suryakumar Yadav stated that the RR skipper will open the innings in the 3-match series.

Samson has the experience of opening before at the international level and he needs to prove his worth in the absence of key players like Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
