West Indies cruised towards a comfortable victory over Scotland in match number eight of the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup on October 6 in Dubai.

Here’s the timeline of how WI-W vs SCO-W panned out in Dubai:

WI-W vs SCO-W Highlights: Kathryn, Lister Steady Scotland After Unwavering Start

West Indies new ball operators Hayley Matthews and Chinelle Henry got rid of both Scottish openers within the first three overs of the innings. Forming forces at 13-2, Scotland captain Kathryn Bryce forged 46 vital runs with number four Ailsa Lister to take their team past the 50-run mark.

Extracting 25 runs from the opening powerplay, Scotland reached 45-2 at the halfway stage of the innings before steering them to 59-2 in 12 overs.

WI-W vs SCO-W Highlights: Fletcher’s Three-Fer Restricts Scotland To 99

West Indies spinner Afy Fletcher picked up wickets in successive deliveries, including that of a well-set Ailsa Lister (26 off 33) to clatter Scotland at 59-4. A couple of overs later in the innings, Fletcher also deceived Kathryn Bryce (25 off 31) to claim astonishing figures of 3-22 from her four overs.

A couple of runouts further dented Scotland’s prospects, but vital cameos from Lorna Jack-Brown (11 off 11) and Darcey Carter (14* off 15) extended their team total to 99-8 by the completion of their innings.

WI-W vs SCO-W Highlights: Qiana Joseph’s 31 Fuels WI Top-Order

Qiana Joseph at number three overcame the early loss of both West Indies openers to Rachel Slater and Priyanaz Chatterji by counterpunching a swift 31 from 18 balls. Belting three boundaries and a six in the process, Joseph’s top-order cameo fueled West Indies to 46-2 by the end of the opening powerplay.

The cricketer herself shared a rapid 27-run stand with silent partner and captain Hayley Matthews (8 off 19) as the latter struggled to get going in the innings.

Joseph was eventually dismissed by Olivia Bell, who also accounted for the departure of Shemaine Campbelle as West Indies slipped to 59-4 in 8.2 overs.

WI-W vs SCO-W Highlights: Deandra Dottin Clubs 28* Off 10 As WI Boost NRR

Deandra Dottin bludgeoned two boundaries and as many sixes in her 15-ball 28*, while Chinelle Henry at number six clubbed 18* from just 10 balls to storm West Indies past the finishing line in just 11.4 overs.

Recording a win with six wickets and more than eight overs to spare, Hayley Matthews and co. also boosted their NRR after crashing to a huge defeat against South Africa earlier in the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup.
