Team India crashed to a huge 58-run defeat against New Zealand in their opening match of the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. The outcome also dented their NRR prospects, as Harmanpreet Kaur and co. continue to languish at the bottom of the Group A points table.

The Indian team will now face arch-rivals Pakistan in a must-win game at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, October 6. Another defeat at this point of the competition will pretty much end India’s outside chance of qualifying for the semifinals.

Ahead of the much-awaited showdown in Dubai, Indian middle-order batter Jemimah Rodrigues said that the team is sticking to the process and will take “one game at a time” going ahead into the tournament.

While speaking with the ICC ahead of India’s highly-awaited Group A match against Pakistan, star middle-order batter Jemimah Rodrigues said that the team has been “doing really well” in sticking to the process, and will continue to do so as they realise that every game is crucial.

She also added that the Indian team will take one game at a time, and they can win the remaining matches by playing their “best cricket”. She said:

“I think what we have been doing really well as a team is just sticking to the process and doing whatever it takes one game at a time. We know every game from here is so crucial for us. We know that. But at the same time, we're going to go one game at a time and just make sure we stick to our process and do our job well. And I think if we can do that, I think if we play our best cricket, I think we can win matches.”

In a bid to qualify for the semifinals, Harmanpreet Kaur’s troops need to win each of their remaining three Group A games with emphatic margins. While they will fancy themselves over continental rivals like Pakistan and Sri Lanka, Team India will need to be at its absolute best to overcome defending champions Australia in their final Group A match on October 13 in Sharjah.
