Pakistan stormed back against New Zealand in the ongoing first match of the Tri- Nation series at the newly inaugurated Gaddafi Stadium. Talking about the match, earlier, New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat. Pakistan bowler wasted no time and took the early wicket of opener Will Young. But after the early setback, Daryl Mitchell and Kane Williamson made a much-needed partnership for the Kiwis and made 95 runs for 3rd Wicket.

But in the 27th over, Shaheen Afridi provided a much-needed wicket and Kane Williamson departed after making 58 runs off 89 balls. Shaheen produced a moment of brilliance that changed the momentum for Pakistan.

He bowled a length delivery on off-stump that induced a faint edge from Williamson. The ball safely went to wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan, who made no mistake and collected the ball safely without making any mistake. Kane Williamson knew that he had committed the mistake and walked off without taking a review. The highlight of the wicket was Shaheen Afridi's celebration; he pointed his finger towards Williamson and showed him a way out.

The crowd erupted and celebrated the wicket, and chants of Shaheen's name echoed across the stadium.

As soon as Kane Williamson departed, Pakistan capitalised on the breakthrough and dismissed Tom Latham for a bronze duck soon after. With the hosts regaining control, the match was now finely poised, and it seemed that Pakistan had made a strong comeback.

At the time of writing New Zealand are at 169 runs at the loss of four wickets. Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips are batting on the field with 61 runs and 11 runs, respectively.
