It seems like Suryakumar Yadav hasn't been able to recover since his streak of poor performances in India's T20Is. The T20I captain of India had a shameful outing for Mumbai in Ranji Trophy as well as he was castled by Haryana pacer for just 9 runs.
In the 3rd Quarter Final of Ranji Trophy Elite 2024-25, Mumbai toppled in front of a searing Haryana pace attack with the stars of the team like Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube as well as Suryakumar Yadav catering below-par performance. While the other two managed to get decent runs, Suryakumar failed to escape the single-digit score.
Suryakumar Yadav Gets Bamboozled By Sumit Kumar's Jaffa
Coming after Siddhesh Lad, Suryakumar Yadav only played five balls. While he delighted the crowd with early boundaries, facing Sumit Kumar in the 8th over, Yadav fell prey to Kumar's jaffa.
Bowling over the wicket, Sumit Kumar pitched an absolute beauty. He delivered a good length ball that came angling in and the raw pace absolutely bamboozled Yadav which sent the bails flying.
After his dismissal, Yadav hung his head in shame as he continued on his streak of poor runs after the recently concluded T20I series.
Mumbai Stages Epic Comeback
Mumbai staged a strong recovery on Day 1, after an early collapse. Opting to bat first, Mumbai suffered a top-order collapse, losing their first four wickets for just 25 runs. Openers Ayush Mhatre and Akash Anand fell cheaply, while skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Suryakumar Yadav failed to make a significant impact. Mumbai was struggling at 113/7 before a remarkable eighth-wicket stand turned the tide.
The rescue act came from Shams Mulani (91 off 178 balls) and Tanush Kotian, who put together a 165-run partnership to stabilize the innings. Their patient approach helped Mumbai recover from a precarious position to a competitive total by stumps.
For Haryana, Anshul Kamboj is the standout bowler with his outstanding performance as he dismantled Mumbai's top order with his 3 scalps, while Sumit Kumar scalped 2 wickets to add to Mumbai's batting woes.
