Indian captain Rohit Sharma punched out an attacking 52 off 63 balls against New Zealand on Day 3 of the series-opening Bengaluru Test. Opening the innings with Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sharma overcame his first innings failure by sharing a 72-run partnership at the top, as Team India reduced its 356-run deficit to some extent.

Apart from headlining India’s blistering start in the second innings, the legendary skipper also made much noise on social media by seemingly forgetting his way inside the field. At one point of Day 3 during India’s fielding, Rohit Sharma was spotted heading inside the ground from behind the sight screen and over multiple layers of wires.

Young Sarfaraz Khan also brought up his maiden Test century on the fourth morning, while Rishabh Pant charted a near run-a-ball fifty.

Earlier in the match, the Indian batting line-up was bundled out for just 46 in 31.2 overs by New Zealand pacemen Matt Henry (5-15) and William O’Rourke (4-22). In response, the visitors mounted a 356-run lead over Rohit Sharma and co.
