Pakistan's premier batter Mohammad Rizwan had a horrible start to the home series against England, as he perished for a twelve-ball duck in the ongoing first Test at Multan Cricket Stadium. Coming at number seven, Rizwan couldn't open his account, with Jack Leach getting his prized wicket.

The incident occurred during the 109th over of Pakistan's first innings when Rizwan had just joined Saud Shakeel in the middle following Naseem Shah's departure. England captain Ollie Pope's decision to continue Jack Leach at one end paid rich dividends for the visitors, as the ace spinner outfoxed Rizwan with his wily bowling.

After Shakeel took a single off the first delivery, Jack Leach bowled three consecutive dot balls to keep Rizwan under the pump. As the wicketkeeper-batter became desperate to break the shackles and get off the mark, Leach tossed the ball up, inviting him for an aggressive shot.

However, as Rizwan stepped out of his crease and smashed the ball by creating some room, he hit it straight to the mid-off, where Chris Woakes took a simple catch to send him packing. Thus, Rizwan, who was expected to capitalise on Multan's batting-friendly conditions, departed without scoring.

However, despite losing the star batting duo of Babar Azam and Rizwan cheaply, Pakistan have ensured a formidable first innings total, thanks to sublime tons from Abdullah Shafique and Shan Masood. At the time of writing, Pakistan were placed at 397 for six, with Saud Shakeel and Agha Salman batting 67* and 0*, respectively.
