As expected, India had the worst possible start to the third day of the Adelaide Test against Australia, as Mitchell Starc dismissed ace keeper-batter Rishabh Pant with a beauty. Rishabh Pant's dismissal was powered India one step closer to defeat in a Test that has been forgettable from their perspective so far.
The incident occurred in the 25th over of India's second innings when Pant was trying to steady the ship alongside Nitish Kumar Reddy. However, it took Starc a little time to break the partnership, as the veteran left-arm pacer got rid of Pant with an absolute beauty.
From over the wicket, Starc bowled a full-length delivery, which shaped away from the southpaw after pitching around the off-stump. As the left-handed batter went for a half-hearted drive away from his body, the ball took the outside edge of his bat, with Steve Smith taking a simple catch in the slips.
This was the third time Rishabh Pant threw away his start in the series. The experienced batter, who was exceptional on the previous Australian tour, hasn't quite lived up to the expectations this time around.
Ashwin Joins Nitish Reddy After Pant's Dismissal
Veteran spin bowling all-rounder Ravichandran Ashwin joined Nitish Kumar Reddy in the middle following Pant's dismissal. At the time of writing, India were reeling at 140 for six, with Reddy and Ashwin batting on 23* and 4*, respectively.
