In the ongoing match between England and Pakistan at Multan Stadium, the visitors are on course of a comfortable win as the hosts have lost four wickets, including Babar Azam.

Former skipper Babar Azam has registered twin failure in this opening Test match as he departs for just 5 (15), which featured a solitary four. It is worth noting that Pakistan, batting first, put 556 runs on the board courtesy of centuries from Shan Masood and Abdullah Shafique.

In reply, England were better than Pakistan and posted 823/7 on the board, which is the highest total in Test cricket on Pakistani soil. Harry Brook smashed a triple-century, while Joe Root also smashed a double-hundred.

Trailing by 267 runs, Pakistan started off on a negative note and lost Abdullah Shafique for a duck on the first ball. Meanwhile, Pakistan lost three quick wickets and eyes were on Babar to return to form on a flat pitch like Multan.

Much to fans' dismay, Babar was caught out on the last ball of the 12th over. The former India skipper fell prey to Gus Atkinson and failed to read the correct line and a thick outside edge ended his stay at the crease as Jamie Smith made no mistake behind the wicket.

It has been 17 innings since Babar last scored a fifty-plus score in Test cricket. He last scored a half-century in December 2022. Azam was under the scanner for his poor run with the bat and even left white-ball captaincy to focus on his batting. However, the former skipper is yet to find the touch with the bat.

Even in the first innings, he amassed just 30 (71) before falling prey to Chris Woakes, who trapped him in front of the wickets.
