In the ongoing Emerging Asia Cup 2024 match between India A and Pakistan A at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman, Tilak Varma won the toss and India A opted to bat first. 

The decision turned out to be a masterstroke as openers Abhishek Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh got off to a flying start and stitched a 68-run stand for the first wicket. 

Abhishek Sharma Takes On Abbas Afridi

Prabhsimran scored 36 (19), while Sharma amassed 35 (22), which featured five fours and two sixes. Talking about Abhishek, he had a slow start and scored 14 (16). 

The southpaw shifted gears from the sixth over when he took on Abbas Afridi. On the first ball of the sixth over, Sharma guided one for a boundary towards the slip cordon. He bettered his shot on the following delivery and hit a beautiful cover drive for four.

On the 3rd ball, Sharma opted for the aerial route and hit Afridi for a maximum. There was no stopping Abhishek as he went for another maximum and eventually collected 20 runs off 4 balls in the 6th over.

Eventually, Sharma fell prey to Sufiyan Muqeem, who gave a send-off to Sharma and that did not go well with the southpaw. Eventually, the SRH star opener gave the Pakistani bowler a death stare before returning to the pavilion. 

It was a much-needed innings from Abhishek as he had a disastrous series against Bangladesh and needs to prove himself to be a part of the T20I squad for the upcoming series against South Africa. 

At the time of writing this article, India have put 183/6 on the board after 20 overs. Meanwhile, Pakistan have already lost their skipper Mohammad Haris and are 6/1 after 0.2 overs.
