It is official, India have handed debut caps to speed gun, Mayank Yadav and SRH superstar, Nitish Reddy for the first T20I against Bangladesh in Gwalior. There were rumours that the two players will make their international debut and the whispers have been true.

Mayank Yadav was long touted to make his India debut, and skipper Suryakumar Yadav also hailed him as the X-factor of the side in the pre-game press conference. India will now hope that the two young stars can find their feet against a strong Bangladesh team.

India show trust in two youngsters

Interestingly, Nitish Kumar Reddy was not in the line to make his debut, but the unfortunate injury to Shivam Dube led to an unexpected decision from the management. Dube suffered a back injury, which allowed the SRH all-rounder to make his India debut.

Mayank Yadav was impressive in the IPL 2024 season. His campaign was marred with injuries, but the speedster clocked consistently at 145 clicks, and even delivered the fastest ball of the tournament - 156.7 clicks. He wreaked havoc in the season and came on the radar of the selectors.

Nitish Kumar on the other hand, was backed by SRH captain Pat Cummins and he delivered the goods with a couple of fifties. He was one of the outstanding players of the tournament, and is also a like-to-like replacement for Shivam Dube.

India Vs Bangladesh Toss Updates

India won the toss and captain Suryakumar Yadav had no hesitation in electing to field first on a surface which is a paradise for the batters.

As stated before, the pitch at Gwalior will be a high-scoring contest and as a result, the India captain has decided to field first, showcasing trust in his batters during the chase.
