The Sunday ended on a thrilling note as the Mumbai Indians ended Delhi Capitals' unbeaten streak, defeating them by 12 runs. After consecutive setbacks, Hardik Pandya and Co. bounced back and secured their second victory. Amidst all the heroics, a perfect use of the impact player rule seized the opportunity.

In past encounters of the ongoing season, MI’s impact player use has come under scrutiny, but in the last match, it earned them their long-desired victory. After the brilliant win, former Indian player Sanjay Manjrekar credited MI skipper Hardik Pandya for this move.

Who Should Take The Credit For MI's Game-Changing Victory?

After a series of setbacks, the Mumbai Indians bounced back in the last clash against the Delhi Capitals. Amidst all the heroics, Karn Sharma’s inclusion as the impactful earned the victory as the bowler made the difference with his bowling brilliance. After dismissing Abishek Porel, he secured two crucial wickets of KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs.

After Rohit Sharma made way for Karn Sharma as an impact sub in the second innings, MI gained control with a brilliant bowling performance. While fans lauded Rohit Sharma for the tactical move, former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar believes the real credit should go to captain Hardik Pandya for his brilliance.

“There are many people who are there to give suggestions but it all depends on the person in the middle who has to take the decision. He (Hardik) listened to the advice (from Rohit) is the biggest thing. If you give Rohit credit here as well and not Hardik Pandya, it would be the wrong thing. If the suggestion had failed, you would’ve blamed Hardik.”

“It’s quite easy to give suggestions from outside. The entire credit for this (victory), should go to Hardik Pandya. Considering how emotional he has been (over MI’s recent results), it was an important win for him,” he said

“It has been quite a difficult journey for him. Would be wrong if social media and others say that Mumbai Indians won because of Rohit Sharma’s suggestions. Hardik Pandya is the captain, and he is the one taking decisions, no matter who is giving suggestions,” he added.

After a long time, the Mumbai Indians registered their second victory of the season by defeating the Delhi Capitals in the last clash. With that 12-run victory, they climbed up to the 7th position of the points table. With momentum on their side, MI will be eager to build on this and keep the winning streak alive in the matches ahead.
