Mohammed Shami Creates History; Becomes First Bowler In IPL To Bag Special Feat

Mohammed Shami has been woefully out of touch in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season, and was also dropped from the team after a string of poor performances. However, the Indian seamer was brought back in the playing XI for the match Vs Chennai Super Kings and he created history.

Shami was given the responsibility to open the bowling attack for SRH and the veteran didn't disappoint as he picked up the wicket of Shaik Rasheed on the first ball of the innings and etched his name in the history books.

Mohammed Shami's special IPL 2025 feat

With the wicket of Rasheed, Shami became the only bowler in IPL to pick up a wicket on the first ball of an IPL innings four times. His victims were Jacques Kallis, KL Rahul, Phil Salt and Shaik Rasheed today.

Trent Boult, the Mumbai Indians pacer had the honour of achieving the feat thrice and Shami battered that record against CSK. The MA Chidambaram surface had something for the pacers and the SRH bowler utilised the conditions to perfection.

Shami has a point to prove

The Indian seamer was brought with a lot of optimism, but Shami had a disappointing first 7 matches as he was constantly taken to the cleaners and he had an economy of almost 11 runs per over. As a result, he was dropped from the last IPL match.

However, the ongoing match provides a chance for the pacer to redeem himself with a match-winning spell.

CSK struggling against SRH pacers

Put into bat, CSK batters lost Rasheed on the first ball and then Ayush Mhatre went berserk, but from the other end, Sam Curran struggled. In the span of few deliveries, both the batters were dismissed as SRH took control of the match.

At the moment, they are 50/3 inside 7 overs with debutant Dewald Brevis at the crease.
