The 35th match of IPL 2025 is happening today between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium on April 19. Both teams are hungry for a win. Delhi is feeling confident after beating Rajasthan Royals, while Gujarat is also riding high after their last win against Lucknow Super Giants. GT is currently in 4th place on the points table with a good record so far.

But the big question is - will Faf du Plessis play today?

Faf, who is Delhi Capitals’ vice-captain, has missed the last two games due to an injury. Earlier, he also skipped the match against CSK because of a groin problem. He did play against RCB but hurt himself while trying to take a tough catch and had to walk off mid-match. Since then, he hasn’t been fully fit.

After that game, Axar Patel mentioned that Faf was expected to miss three matches. So far, he has missed two, and there’s a possibility he could return today - but it all depends on what the physio says. They’ll make a final decision just before the toss.

DC head coach Hemang Badani also gave an update, saying even he doesn’t know for sure if Faf will play. He said, "I genuinely cannot give you anything with regards to team mix up, whether he (Du Plessis) is ready or not, we will have to wait and see tomorrow."

If Faf Doesn’t Play, What’s the Plan?

If Faf is still unfit, Jake Fraser-McGurk is likely to continue in the team. However, his form has been poor this season, just 55 runs in his last six innings, with five of them being single-digit scores. He hasn’t managed to get going as an opener, and bowlers seem to have figured him out.

So, while there’s no official word yet, chances are high that Faf du Plessis might not play today’s match against Gujarat Titans.
