Virender Sehwag's Son Aaryavir Slams Impressive 49 On His U19 Debut For Delhi

Virender Sehwag is a legendary figure in Indian cricket and is widely credited for revolutionalizing the way openers approach Test cricket. He is now a retired man but his son, Aaryavir is playing professional cricket and has now take a big stride forward by making his U19 Debut for Delhi in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy. 

Aaryavir made his debut on 4th of October when Delhi took on Manipur at the SLIMS Cricket Ground in Pondicherry. He batted at the top of the order and scored 49 off 64 balls which included six fours and a six. Aaryavir is known for his strokeplay just like his father and previously grabbed headlines when he smashed 183 off 136 balls in a DDCA trail match. He is just 16-year-old and was also recently named in the U-16 Squad of Delhi for Vijay Merchant Trophy.

Delhi Off To A Winning Start In Vinoo Mankad Trophy

Aaryavir's knock at the top of the order set stage for an easy victory for Delhi as they chased down the target of 170 set by Manipur in just 26 overs. Delhi is being led by Pranav Pant in the tournament and he also played an impressive knock of 75 off 45 balls to take his team to a winning start. For Manipur,  AliKarim top-scored with 56 to give Manipur bowlers something to bowl in the second innings. The youngster Laxman picked three wickets for Delhi while Divansh Rawat and Aman Chaudhary picked two wikcets apiece.

Delhi are part of Group D and will face-off against Haryana next up on October 6. Haryana also registered a win in their first match against Uttar Pradesh by four wickets. Along with Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat have also won their opening match of Group D and it would be interesting to see how Delhi and especially Sehwag's son Aaryavir goes about his business in the tournament.
