Thomas Kelly signs a two-year extension with Adelaide Strikers

The talented young batter, Thomas Kelly has signed a two-year deal with Adelaide Strikers.



Kelly had replaced the left-handed batter Travis Head last year, who missed most of the matches due to international commitments. 


In 15 appearances, Kelly amassed 214 runs at a strike rate of 129.69. In his debut game, the South-Australian batter scored 26 off 15 balls.


The 21-year-old turned out to be a player, who churned out runs at a brisk rate in the middle-order. His performances helped the team finish fourth and reach the playoffs.


Furthermore, the SACA 2021/22 Twenty20 competition witnessed Kelly scoring 289 runs in five innings, with a top score of 105*.


Kelly excited to be back for Strikers


“I’m absolutely stoked to be back!,” said Kelly. 

 

“It was such an unreal experience playing for the Strikers last year, and I can’t wait to do it all again this summer.


 “I love running out at Adelaide Oval and can’t wait to get going this season.”


BBL draft


The BBL 2022/23 draft will take place on August 28. All the franchises are entitled to retain one internati0nal player from last season.


Strikers will get the fifth pick in the drafts based on their performance in the last edition of the tournament.


The 2017/18 BBL champions are anticipated to retain spinner, Rashid Khan, who has been a key wicket-taker for them in recent years.


In 61 BBL matches, Rashid has scalped 92 wickets at an economy of 6.44, with the best figures of 6/17.
