Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi, who is also the founder of the Shahid Afridi Foundation, has officially launched a new league in cricket. The league has been named Mega Stars League (MSL).
The former leg spinner addressed the media during the launch of the league. He announced that the MSL would be played in T10 format. The league will get underway in Rawalpindi, Pakistan.
"Mega Star League is an entertaining league, which is scheduled to be played in September in Rawalpindi this year. The core idea behind introducing this league is to financially support the ex-cricketers, athletes, and sports journalists."
Afridi also stated that the tournament would be played among six teams and witness foreign names. "The MSL will feature six teams, and foreign players will also take part in the upcoming league."
Speaking of the need to create a new league, the former all-rounder claimed that MSL would be exclusive to the old horses of the game. He also highlighted that PSL is for youngsters, and many ex-players do not have the same energy and fitness to play there. With this idea, the MSL has been announced.
"PSL is for youngsters, and I am not young enough anymore. I, Mushtaq Ahmed, Inzamam-ul-Haq and Waqar Younis will play in MSL”
Inzamam-Ul-Haq, Mushtaq Ahmed and Waqar Younis were present during the event's launch. Along with Shahid Afridi, all these stars will be seen participating in the MSL.
