  • I Am Sure Hell Continue To Do Pietersen Confident About Buttler Continuing His Stellar Ipl Form

'I am sure he’ll continue to do', Pietersen confident about Buttler continuing his stellar IPL form

Former England cricketer-turned commentator Kevin Pietersen has backed swashbuckling opener Jos Buttler to continue with his stupendous form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

Buttler has been daylights ahead of any other batters in the 15th season of the lucrative T20 league. The Lancashire cricketer has picked off from where he left last year, adding three more hundreds against his name in just seven innings.

And, just like his fans, even Kevin Pietersen is running out of adjectives and superlatives to describe the performance of the hard-hitting opener.

Pietersen was on commentary duties when Buttler hammered his 3rd ton of the season - a blistering 65-ball 116 against the Delhi Capitals (DC)- and the former cricketer can't stop raving about it.

"We are running out of adjectives and superlatives. The IPL is made incredible by the innings like these. The spectators love this, we love this, everybody in the studio loved this. I mean some of the shots he played you can't buy them. You can't practice that (because) no one sells it," said KP on Star Sports.

"You either have it or you don't. He's such a fine talent and in such a sublime form. When he starts to strike like that sometimes you've just got to say you know what, this guy is so good. He took his time and capitalised." he added.

Buttler's 116 propelled Rajasthan Royals (RR) to the highest total of the season- 222- which they successfully defended amid a controversial finish.

He has been spearheading the Royals' batting unit so far, and Pietersen expects him to continue with the same for the rest of the season.

"Jos did an unbelievable job against Delhi Capitals (in the previous game). I am sure he'll continue to do so because when you're in this kind of form in the tournament, you'll just bat and bat and bat, especially when the wickets are this good," he said.

"So, I don't expect him to change the way he plays," he added.

Buttler has already hammered 491 runs in 7 games at an average of 81 and a blistering strike rate of 161.51 with five 50+ scores, including three hundreds.

He is the only cricketer after Virat Kohli to smash more than two hundreds in a season and is in line to break the latter's record of most runs in a season- 973.
