The Indian Premier League (IPL) has made a bold move toward the future of sports broadcasting with the introduction of a robotic dog to its broadcast team for the ongoing season. The unique addition, which is designed to enhance fan engagement was unveiled in a special promotional video posted on the IPLโ€™s official social media.

IPL Launches New Robot Dog

In the video, former New Zealand cricketer and popular commentator Danny Morrison took center stage and introduced the four-legged robot. The robotic dog, equipped with cutting-edge technology, made its debut during a lighthearted interaction with the players.

The robot was seen moving around the field, responding to Morrisonโ€™s voice commands, and even waving at the camera, providing an interactive element to the coverage.

The robotic dog sparked surprise and curiosity from the cricketers on the field. Delhi Capitalsโ€™ captain, Axar Patel, could not help but express his excitement, asking, โ€œKya hai yeh?โ€ (What is this?). Meanwhile, Mumbai Indiansโ€™ fast bowler Reece Topley quipped, โ€œWhat type of dog is this?".

As the players interacted with the robotic dog, all-rounder Hardik Pandya affectionately called it a โ€œgood boy,โ€ as it responded to his commands with precision.

Why Did IPL Introduce Dog Robot?

The robotโ€™s high-tech features include cameras, enabling it to capture and broadcast different angles of the match. The main aim of this is to offer viewers a fresh and engaging perspective. The innovation also aims to add an element of fun by interacting with players during practice sessions.

In addition to its technical capabilities, the IPL is involving fans in a unique way by inviting them to suggest names for the robot dog.
