'Rishabh Pant is great to watch' – Jos Buttler praises Indian keeper after explosive ton

Rishabh Pant smashed an unbeaten 125 against England in a high-pressure series decider on Sunday. His match-winning knock marked his maiden ODI hundred, thus engineering India's 2-1 series win over the World Champions.

After the match, rival skipper Jos Buttler praised the Indian cricketer, calling him “fearless” and great to watch in all formats. While speaking in the post-match press conference, the England captain said: “Rishabh is a fantastic player. I think it’s his mentality that sets him apart from other players. Rishabh is a fearless cricketer and a fantastic talent. He’s brilliant across all formats and great to watch. I think he gets great backing to play however he wants to play from his team”.

Buttler himself top-scored for England in the third ODI with 60, thus extending his purple patch with the bat in the white-ball formats. The hosts were eventually shut out for 259 runs, slightly bettering their batting effort from the previous game.

The ‘Men in Blue’ lost three wickets in succession during their run-chase, including that of openers Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan and number three batter Virat Kohli.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya, who collected four wickets with the ball earlier, joined Pant at the crease at 72-4. The duo combined forces to stitch a 133-run stand at a breakneck pace.

After Pandya’s exit at 72, the wicketkeeper-batsman guided India past the finishing line with a rapid 125* off 113 balls. Remarkably, he scored the final 25 runs of his innings in just seven balls after reaching the ton.
