ICC FTP 2023-27 | Bangladesh rewarded with Tests and ODIs

The Bangladesh cricket team is set to gain big in the upcoming ICC Future Tour Programme (FTP) in the 2023-2027 cycle. According to a report in ESPNcricinfo, Bangladesh will play as many as 34 Tests, 59 One-Day Internationals (ODI), and 51 T20 Internationals (T20I).


Huge gain for Bangladesh


However, this itinerary is subject to change. Bangladesh are only behind England, who have been given 42 Tests, but lead in the most number of ODIs, one ahead of Sri Lanka (58), with 59.


Overall, Bangladesh will feature in 144 international matches, two behind West Indies, who will be in action across 146 games.

Other gainers


Other nations that have gained in the upcoming FTP are Zimbabwe and Afghanistan.


Zimbabwe


Zimbabwe, who recently qualified for the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, are likely to win 20 Tests, as opposed to 13 in the ongoing cycle. In all, the African nation will play 109 international games during this period.


Afghanistan


Afghanistan, too, gets 20 Tests with one-off matches against India, Australia, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka.


They primarily play against Zimbabwe, Ireland, and Bangladesh, with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) promising a 4-match Test series.


Ireland


Ireland got the hard end of the stick, having allowed just 12 Tests. They might get to play one-off Tests against Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
